Description

Thanks to their capillarity, gas distribution networks are the perfect destination to collect decentralized renewable gas production, such as biomethane.

However, in some periods of the year, the distribution network is not able to absorb the entire quantity of renewable gas generated, due to lower consumption compared to the production capacity of biomethane plants.

BiRemi™ is the new family of products by Pietro Fiorentini that responds to these new needs. By strengthening existing gas networks, BiRemi™ promotes the penetration of renewable gases in the energy mix (i.e. the set of energy sources) compared to the use of fossil fuels, also reducing natural gas consumption and related CO2 emissions.

The system aims to achieve greater network flexibility in managing gas flows from multiple production points. In this way, intelligent networks are created, capable not only of absorbing local production from alternative sources such as biomethane, but also of valorizing any surpluses by re-introducing them into the transport network, always guaranteeing the balance of the entire network.

Pietro Fiorentini’s BiRemi™ system works by compressing gas from the distribution network into the transmission network, while also integrating gas pretreatment, quality analysis, metering, and compression.
