BiRemi™: five new plants by Pietro Fiorentini
11 June 2025 - SolutionsIn the first months of 2025, Pietro Fiorentini has designed, manufactured, installed, and tested five BiRemi™ plants. Located in Italy, they are key to the optimization of the gas distribution networks for the use of biomethane.
Making gas distribution networks more flexible, intelligent, and sustainable is crucial to make the most of the chances offered by biomethane, one of the most valuable resources for the energy transition. BiRemi™ by Pietro Fiorentini goes towards this, allowing for bi-directional management of natural gas flows and ensuring maximum safety in the transition from the distribution networks to the transport ones.
An advanced control and safety system, guaranteed by Starbox LX2, allows BiRemi™ to independently manage the direction of the gas flow, monitoring network conditions in real time and intervening promptly to any variations in operating conditions.
This technology is part of the experiments promoted by ARERA with Resolution 404/2022/R/Gas for projects aimed at optimizing gas infrastructures with plants that recompress and safely reintroduce into the high-pressure networks the gas produced locally and not consumed.
In the plant located in Motta Baluffi, Pietro Fiorentini also provided the FIO 3.0 solution to enable dynamic pressure control of the distribution network: another fundamental step to continue with the digitization of gas networks.
For us, this is what giving value to resources is: offering real support for decentralized biomethane production to reduce waste while working on the current grids to optimize them and also enable the smart management of the gas system.
