We are looking for a highly motivated individual seeking new challenges in a world-class provider of Subsea Multiphase Flow Meter.
The Subsea Mechanical Designer will be responsible for mechanical design, testing and qualification of new products and improving existing ones (subsea/topside measurement sensors).
The position will report to the Head of R&D department of the Multiphase Flow Meter (MPFM) Subsea/Topside.
Perform conceptual design work and engineering analysis
Create complete design packages and necessary documentation
Handles all aspects of a project, as needed, to include customer interface, modeling, detail drawings, analysis, documentation, assembly support and testing
Interact with customers to understand their mechanical challenges and propose solutions
Perform any trials or simulations as required by project
Understand and apply design for manufacture principles for turning, machining, drilling, milling and welding processes to ensure designs are suitable and allow for efficient manufacture and assembly
Manage R&D projects with Stage & Gate process
Support Sales and Marketing personnel with custom engineering quotations, and attend technical meetings
Key skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Good engineering experience, engineering design, testing and installation/operation, experience within subsea industry with a minimum 5 years’ experience
Strong knowledge of applicable industry mechanical, piping, subsea codes and standards.
A broad understanding of the offshore and subsea oil and gas industry, technologies and installation methods
Able to use a 3D CAD modelling tool to translate design concepts into models and drawings (ideally Inventor or Solidworks)
Capable of producing detailed design calculations and performing computer-based analysis (ideally using ANSYS) finite element analysis and the like.
Sound knowledge of FMECA analysis
Good understanding of the application of Project Management techniques and standards.
Ability to follow project from concept through design, detail, and manufacturing of finished products
Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation
Ability to provide technical leadership to junior members of the team
Facilitates other team members to adapt to changing requirements
