The action plan includes both the <strong>promotion of the efficient use of resources<\/strong> by moving towards a clean, circular economy, and the <strong>restoration of biodiversity and reduction of pollution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Smart Grids can greatly contribute to achieving these European objectives. In regard to electricity distribution, implementing Smart Grids means:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>exploiting information technologies to enable the <strong>exchange of data and information<\/strong> between the various nodes in order to <strong>optimize<\/strong> <strong>flows<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>transforming the role of the final consumer from <strong>passive user to producer of energy<\/strong> (for example, via solar panels on their roofs) <strong>and informer <\/strong>that helps the grid to plan efficient usage and prevent peaks in power and excess production;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>maximising the <strong>safety and eliminating leakage and waste<\/strong> and thus reducing consumption;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>integrating <em>Distributed Energy Resources<\/em> (DER) within the grid, changing the <strong>distribution model from oligarchic to distributed<\/strong>. The more small renewable energy plants become more widespread, the closer the places where energy is produced and consumed will become (even coinciding in some cases), leading to the elimination of leakage on long transmission backbones.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:32px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"951\" height=\"765\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Expertise_SmartGasGrids_1EN.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14957\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Expertise_SmartGasGrids_1EN.jpg 951w, https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Expertise_SmartGasGrids_1EN-300x241.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Expertise_SmartGasGrids_1EN-768x618.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 951px) 100vw, 951px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>Smart Grids for electricity and gas distribution<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Post-meter gas leakage reduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Reducing methane emissions is a priority but also an opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the aim of preventing climate change, the European Union has set ambitious targets for the reduction of its greenhouse gas emissions. The EU aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and this goal is stated in the European Climate Act, together with the intermediate target of a 55% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We provide a free consultation of a document that is not intended to assess whether and how much it is worthwhile to invest in reducing these types of leaks, since investing in preventing climate change is essential and unavoidable.
