

{"id":21947,"date":"2023-01-03T11:35:02","date_gmt":"2023-01-03T10:35:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/?page_id=19913"},"modified":"2023-01-03T11:35:02","modified_gmt":"2023-01-03T10:35:02","slug":"from-electricity-to-green-gas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.fiorentini.com\/en\/about-us\/expertise\/power-to-gas\/from-electricity-to-green-gas\/","title":{"rendered":"From electricity to green gas"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Power-to-gas technology exploits the phenomenon of <strong>electrolysis<\/strong>: excess energy from wind farms, photovoltaic fields and electrical infrastructure congestion is used to break the bonds of the water molecules and <strong>produce<\/strong> <strong>hydrogen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green hydrogen can be <strong>upgraded on site<\/strong> where there is consumption, for example in the automotive sector, <strong>or transported to the point of use <\/strong>via new dedicated infrastructure or, alternatively, using the existing gas network (up to permitted compatibility percentages).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This infrastructure is evolving so as to be able to accept increasing quantities of hydrogen that can be injected into the grid thanks to the use of <strong>blending systems<\/strong>. This is a technological constraint that can now be completely overcome thanks to <strong>power-to-methane <\/strong>(P2M<em>)<\/em> solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, we can <strong>convert hydrogen produced from electric energy into methane and water<\/strong> by making use of the Sabatier reaction by using an external source of carbon dioxide.
